Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Finding the best value:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront Executive Suite w\/ Great View + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
