Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Booking in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- To start, have your family select trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Oceanfront King Suite Suite Accessible 6th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
