Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting and booking the bestrental:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. OV Charm 15th Flr 3BR Angle Ocean View Condo has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
