Finding the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to pick the perfect rental home:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Palm Sands II, 3 BR Beachfront w\/Private Balcony........... has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
