Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Book your Myrtle Beach rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Paradise at the Beach with Golf Course View has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, email the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or applied to your invoice.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
