Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- To find the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing the bestrental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Penthouse 2 story waterfront home\/ arcade\/by ocean has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is best for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
