Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. FS6123 Myrtle Beach Resort: Perfect Courtyard View Condo has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
