Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
Finding the perfect rental home:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Royale Palms 1706 Renovated Oceanview w\/Pool\/Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
