How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by selecting vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Renovated, Safe, Beachfront, Family Friendly, Quiet & Great Reviews! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
