Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation home:
- To start, have your family choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Sands Beach Bliss: Waterfront Retreat has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
