Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If not, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
