Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your family agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Serenity by the Sea 8th Flr Ocean View 1BR Condo has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible online. If not, email the property management company before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
