Strategies to get the very best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Tranquil Beach Escape in Kingston Plantation! Winter Specials! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
