Tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. $150 activities - E-gift card when you book - Steps to the Beach
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
