Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book the perfectvacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Suite with Beautiful Ocean Front View has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
