Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Anchors Away at Seawatch Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Advice for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
