Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the perfectrental home:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Take Me to the Sea, 2 Bdr 1.5 Ba in Ocean Lakes has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
