Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- To start, have your family select trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Tranquil Escape 4th Floor: 3 Bdrm Condo Ocean View has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
