Vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to a budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

How to pick the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:

  • Start by having your family agree to a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Tranquil Oceanview Oasis 3BR with Balcony has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you book your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
