Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by having your group choose dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Cumberland By The Sea has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
