Booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Tropical 1 BR Getaway! Sleeps 4 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the host before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
