Booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, shift your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by having your family commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Updated King Suite with stunning Oceanfront Views! Sandcastle 1119 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
