Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To find the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the perfect rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. UPDATED UNIT, BEST VALUE-Top beachfront resort, Clean, Ideal location, Pool near has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your family.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
