Rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Villa 1 Bedroom in a 57 Acre Gated Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
