Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Waves of Relaxation: A Beachfront Retreat has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Advice for your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
