Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To book the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the best vacation home:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Beachfront Bliss 2BR Condo with Dual Balconies has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
