How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Seeking snowbirds! 50% off month-long stay has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
