Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Booking in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and picking your prefect Myrtle Beach rental:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Seeking snowbirds! 50% off month-long stay has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your group.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
