Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing the bestrental home:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 11th-floor, oceanfront snowbird-friendly studio w\/ WiFi, pool\/hot tub, AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
