Tips and Tricks to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 2nd-floor oceanfront studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
