Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing a perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. NEWLY RENOVATED STEPS TO BEACH BEAUTY + Largest pool in town! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
More considerations:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
