Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Get the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- First and foremost, have your family select a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 3br Lockoff Condo Myrtle Beach Family Fun! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
