Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting the perfect rental:
- To start, have your family choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. 3BR\/2BA Spectacular Southern View!!- 8th Floor-Remodeled! Gorgeous Balcony View! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your trip.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
