Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to choose the best rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Awesome 3BR! Oceanfront bldg! Gated resort! Pools! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. Otherwise, call the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your group.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a fantastic stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
