Tips to get the best rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
How to pick the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Beautiful & Comfy Oceanfront Studio @ Ocean Reef! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
