Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Beautiful Ocean View King Suite - Steps From The Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
