Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- First and foremost, have your family choose dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. BEAUTIFULLY RENOVATED CONDO IN LEGENDS GOLF RESORT has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
