Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by having your group select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Bluewater Resort Hi Rise Unit 517 One Bath With Lovely Ocean Views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
During your stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
