Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. By the ocean, beautiful condo at ‘Beach Colony’ has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If not, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
