Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Get the best value:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Coastal Escape: 2BR King Suite @ Wyndham Seawatch has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
