Rental booking tips:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First, have your family choose date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Direct Ocean Front Queen Suite! Sea Mist Resort 21006 - Perfect for 2 guests! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email the host before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
