Strategies to get the very best Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • To find the best value, try changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing the perfect rental home:

  • First, have your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Direct Oceanfront 4 Bedroom 3 Bath, 9th floor, sleeps 16, amenities has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
