Rental home tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To get the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Summer 2025 weeks available. Amazing OCEAN VIEW on popular Shore Dr.. 2BR 2 bath has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
Tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
