Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking your Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Choose your dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Gorgeous 9th floor 2BR condo w\/amazing views has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
