Vacation rental tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First, have your group decide on trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Landmark Resort Unit 1023 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
