How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and picking the bestrental home:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Landmark Resort Unit 1023 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
