Our top Myrtle Beach rental home booking tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Luxury Ocean Front 3 Bedroom Condominium on dead end Shore Drive has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
