Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:
- To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. MUST SEE!! M57 NEWLY RENOVATED - Steps Away From Ocean, Pool, Grill, Store has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If not, contact the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
