Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefectrental home:
- First, have your group choose vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanside - Marriott's OceanWatch Villas - Upscale Resort Villa On The Beach! Spacious! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your agreement.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
