Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Front - Marriott's OceanWatch Villas - Upscale Resort Villa On The Beach! Spacious! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
