Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking the bestvacation home:
- To start, have your family select trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. B112 at the Myrtle Beach Resort: Coastal Breeze has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your agreement.
Have a great stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
