Our top Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Ocean Lakes MH151 - 3BR \/ 2BA \nGreat for Family and Pet Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
