Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- To find the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes MH151 - 3BR \/ 2BA \nGreat for Family and Pet Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
